Floyd and Beasley Transfer Company was organized
in 1944 when Cecil Floyd and Jule Beasley formed a
partnership and acquired a small trucking firm
headquartered in Sycamore, Alabama. The infant
company had a fleet of four vehicles, with a gross
revenue for the first year of $33,000.
Since that time, the company has been a
continuous success story. They purchased property,
built a terminal, and moved from their small rented
quarters in 1950. In 1953, the firm was incorporated
with the original partners retaining ownership. Mr.
Floyd served as President until his death in late
1966. The company continued as a closely held
corporation under the leadership of Mr. Beasley
until 1999. There were numerous expansions of the
home terminal in Sycamore; the present ultra modern
facility was occupied in 1973. In January of 1999,
the Beasley shareholders sold their shares to the
Floyd family. The Floyd family presently owns 100%
of Floyd & Beasley Transfer Company, Inc.
Floyd and Beasley Transfer Company is an
interstate common carrier and for many years
operated primarily in the Southeast. The first
operations of Floyd & Beasley Transfer Company were
limited to the textile industry with a very limited
scope of operations, but with determination, routes
were extended to cover a large portion of the 48
states, handling a variety of products from
textiles, food products, paper and many other
commodities.
From that very small beginning that was only a
dream; Floyd & Beasley has grown from one office to
several terminals, serving regional and
inter-regional states and has contracts with many
large Fortune 500 corporations. In addition to the
home office located in Sycamore, AL, Floyd & Beasley
owns terminal facilities at Atlanta, GA and
Greenville, SC with trailer pools and drop yards
throughout the southeast. Floyd & Beasley operates
in excess of 200 tractors and 600 trailers, (some
with special equipment). All equipment is modern and
their maintenance facility at Sycamore, AL is one of
the best in the industry. Jobs are provided for more
than 250.
Floyd & Beasley offers many other services, such
as large storage facilities, storage trailer rental,
limited broker service and very large trailer pool
operations.
The safety program at Floyd & Beasley has always
received top priority and top management remains
active in the safety programs. Safety personnel are
active leaders in state and national safety
programs.
Floyd & Beasley has never lacked for that
leadership that brings success. That leadership, in
an effort to continue that success in the year 2001,
installed a Qualcomm tracking system. Service and
Floyd & Beasley have come to be synonymous, and the
tracking system continues that outstanding service.
As great as our history is, you have not seen
anything yet. For those who have vision and dreams,
there is still opportunity, and the driving force of
the leadership of Floyd & Beasley has been and
continues to be that conquest belongs to the
conqueror.
